Strolling along the "Portuguese Silver Coast"
Obidos is a charming medieval city located 30 minutes from Nazaré and
20 minutes from Salir do Porto. The walled city is a real eye catcher when
you pass it by on the highway. Closing in on Obidos, one of the first thing
you notice is the impressive aqueduct. The city is car-free, but it can
be very crowded. Going for a walk on the city walls is an incredible experience:
a small wall, battlements on 1 side and the depth of the city on the other
side. You can participate in an escape game in one of the castle towers.
The monastery of Alcobaça (16km - 20min), from the 12th century, is on the list of World Heritage Sites. There are more sites to discover in Tomar and Batalha.
The holiday residences are located either at the Costa de Prata, or the
Silver Coast. This is a predominantly green area with a mild climate. The
landscape is very varied. There is a lot of breathtaking nature to be found
other then the Atlantic Ocean like forests and hills, fields and vineyards,
rivers and lagoons, ... . In addition to the amazing sceneries of nature
you can discover the view of the many small villages, small churches, windmills
and hamlets in hilly areas.
The nature reserves around Serras de Aire de Candeeiros and Lagoa de Óbidos are also great places for a relaxing stroll through nature. The region contains many different hiking trials as well as many possibilities for geocaching. To discover even more walking trials you can always inform yourself at the tourism offices.
In Fatima you can find a place of pilgrimage, comparable to Lourdes.
After booking you will receive a digital brochure (free of charge) containing all info about the region: activities, excursions, restaurants, ... and our experiences with them.
